The Daily App: PopNotes for iPad

There are a plethora of reminder and note-it apps for the universe of mobile devices, but when we saw that 3M had an app modeled off its ubiquitous Post-It franchise, we had to dive in and take a look.

PopNotes by 3M, a free download from the Apple iTunes App Store, provides the look and feel of the company's sticky notes, but with the functionality of iPad hardware to give it a nice refresh and boost. PopNotes takes the yellow-square note design, and on the iPad provides the ability to have those notes pop up on your screen when you need them to.

For example, you can write a note to yourself to pick up dry cleaning, and then when you're in the neighborhood the PopNote will jump up and alert you on your device's screen.

3M has also built in note-sharing, allowing you the option of sharing a task or thought (in a yellow sticky note) with others who have the same app and register with 3M's free online service.

This app isn't for everyone, particularly those who may have settled on Apple's own Reminders app for these functions. But it is a terrific app, and since it's free it's at least worth a try.
