The Daily App: HIIT Interval Timer

If fitness is your thing, then there's an app for that. Actually, there are several, but today's daily app stands out because it can be heard as well as seen. HIIT Interval Timer from Pimpim Mobile is a helpful free tool for the healthful Android user that keeps track of the pace of exercise so you don't have to.

Unlike so many of the interval timer apps out there, this one offers audible cues as well as visual ones, giving trainers one less thing to think about during their workout. HIIT Interval Timer lets you create your own sets with a custom number of rounds, each with a different length. Warm up with a jog for five minutes, then sprint for one, jog for another 10 minutes, then walk for the remaining 20 to cool down. Each interval can have a set number of warning ticks, plus an alarm when it's time to change, and another when you're done.

Tomorrow, try a different pre-loaded set, with a different set of intervals and alarms. You can even merge multiple sets into one longer workout using HIIT Interval Timer's easy and intuitive user interface. Visual cues include time in and time remaining for each interval as well as for the entire workout. You can even skip forward in the workout if you're pressed for time. The workout will also pause for incoming calls.

The developer offers one bug warning: "The app may crash when you set sound," and asks for input to help locate the bug at [email protected]. Maybe they'll even remove the ads, which otherwise costs $1.39.
