If keeping up with news and social media is a must then FlipBoard is a must-have app, and it's free. Flipboard for Android and iOS gathers news from Facebook, Flickr, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, SoundCloud, Tumblr, Twitter and Youtube and displays articles in a single, magazine-style flipbook.

From a developer of the same name, Flipboard searches these social networking sites and displays as many news articles as it can find -- from blog posts to photos, it’s all there. Flipboard also syncs with read-it-later apps such as Instapaper, Pocket and Readability to save articles for future reading.

There are two steps to establishing a new account. The first, choosing categories that will appear on the opening page of the app, such as travel, sports and technology; followed by syncing each desired social media account, which will appear as tiles on the second page. The last page consists of news stories provided by Flipboard. Flipping through each board is graphically appealing and lightening fast.
