Why You Should Care: Equivio's technology streamlines e-discovery and data retention by combining near-duplicate data and cutting down on redundancy. The Lowdown: Removing data redundancy and streamlining e-discovery for customers can result in lowered costs. Equivio has come up with a suite of products that correlates related items while eliminating the redundant data, making it easier for customers to find a particular e-mail or document.
Equivio offers three individual products that together form a comprehensive portfolio for customers to deal with redundant data. Equivio>NearDuplicates, Equivio>EmailThreads and Equivio>Relevance all work in tandem to make it easy shift through and find relevant material in information-heavy businesses such as law offices.
"All three of the products share one basic trait: dealing with redundant data," said Warwick Shapiro, vice president marketing and business development for Equivio. "Our technology provides a way to capture documents and duplicates and group them together."
For example, if an attorney is searching for a specific e-mail, the Equivio suite helps simplify things. NearDuplicates looks for slight variations of a document; EmailThreads searches through correspondence to find and reconstruct e-mail threads no matter the length; finally, Relevance ties them all together.
"Equivio can be used to filter data much more efficiently," said Shapiro. "[Customers] can then eliminate redundant data within their system and manage it much more efficiently."
Solution providers can take advantage of Equivio's three products in a couple of different ways. For a service-intensive play, margin can be made by helping customers implement new content management systems. The Equivio bundle can be added to that migration and used to enhance the end users' content management system. The three products can also be resold by solution providers looking for a less labor-intensive way to provide cut down redundant data.
