Dynamics ERP Software-As-A-Service Offerings In The Works

Some 12,000 partners are in Denver to hear what's new from Microsoft, and so are ChannelWeb reporters. Our ace software team of Stacy Cowley, Rick Whiting and Kevin McLaughlin are all in Denver tuning in to the keynotes and walking the floors. Look for posts from all three of them right here in TalkTalk.

From Rick Whiting:

Hosted versions of Microsoft's Dynamics ERP applications aren't right around the corner, but they are definitely on the software company's radar screen. In an interview at the Worldwide Partner Conference, where the Dynamics Live CRM application made its debut, executives said they will continue researching customer needs before making a final decision but indicated that software-as-a-service versions of the vendor's Dynamics ERP applications are not a long ways off.

Kirill Tatarinov, who took over as head of the Business Solutions group last week, said Microsoft is investing in software-as-a-service technology for other Live initiatives such as Windows Live and Office Live. Developing on-demand ERP apps won't mean starting from scratch, he noted. Microsoft will study market response to the Dynamics Live CRM product, including demand, customer requirements and how the product is used, before making a final decision.
