Apple Shakes Up iPod Shuffle Line
With its sleek form factor, just half a cubic inch in volume weighing in at half an ounce, the aluminum music player comes in silver, blue, green, purple and a (PRODUCT) RED special edition, a percentage of which will be donated to help in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
"At just $49, the iPod shuffle is the most affordable iPod ever," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing, in a statement. "The new 2GB model lets music lovers bring even more songs everywhere they go in the impossibly small iPod shuffle."
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple has sold more than 140 million iPods since it launched the product. Other iPod models available include the iPod classic, the iPod nano with video playback and the iPod touch featuring a multi-touch user interface like the iPhone's.
The $49 1 GB iPod shuffle is available now through Apple and its reseller partners. The 2GB model will be available later this month for $69.
