Microsoft Claims Scary Vista Video Is A Spoof

But now that Vista SP1 has arrived, Microsoft is singing a different tune: Bruce Springsteen's 1984 hit 'Dancing In The Dark,' to be exact.

In a video that can be seen either as a spoof, or an appalling lack of awareness of the power of Youtube, Microsoft faithfully recasts the Springsteen video, including the Courteney Cox character who the Boss drags onstage at the end to dance, to push the notion that SP1's arrival will convince enterprises to upgrade to Vista.

The chorus goes a little something like this:

"If they have been waiting / No more hesitating / When they see the improvements in security / The desktop and mobility and productivity / They'll say 'Vista gotta get me some'"

A Microsoft spokesperson told ChannelWeb the video is a joke, and was developed as a way for its sales team to "poke fun at themselves a bit."

Um, OK, Microsoft, if you say so.
