TiVo My PC
The service, Nero LiquidTV | TiVo PC, works on PCs with Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. The package includes a remote, and with a one-year subscription to the TiVo service. A TV tuner card is included that allows television signals to be received by the PC as well as an IR Blaster that creates a wireless, infrared connection between a cable or satellite box and the PC.
Subscribers can watch and pause live TV on desktops, record favorite shows directly onto hard drives and transfer shows between computers throughout the home. Additionally, programs can also be exported to iPods, PlayStation Portables (PSPs), or can be burned onto DVDs.
The Nero LiquidTV | TiVo PC box with one-year subscription will be available in the U.S., Canada and Mexico in October for U.S. $199 or U.S. $99 for a downloadable software-only version.
TiVo service subscription renewal is $99 yearly. The retail box, containing a tuner card, TiVo remote control and IR blaster is available in the U.S. at retailers including Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, Circuit City and Office Depot. In Canada, retailers include Future Shop and Best Buy Canada. In Mexico, the product will only be available online as a downloadable serial number.
The companies say that while Nero LiquidTV | TiVo PC can be used without the TiVo service, functionality is extremely limited, the automatic-recording service functionality or content discovery features are most likely be inoperable.
