Apple Rumor Mill: New Mac Mini To Debut Next Month

An anonymous Apple employee told Wired.com that Steve Jobs will unveil the new Mac Mini at the show but would not disclose further details.

The latest Apple chatter follows earlier buzz last month that Apple was set to unveil revamped and refreshed iMacs and Mac Minis as well as an update for its desktop products in time for Christmas. An Apple spokesperson quickly shot down those rumors.

Apple launched the Mac Mini three years ago, but the product has languished while the Cupertino, Calif.-based company concentrated its efforts on the more popular iMac and MacBooks.

Since Apple hasn't refreshed the Mac Mini since last year, Apple watchers have speculated that the company would kill the computer.

That rumor was based in part by an October Gizmodo report that said that two major European retailers weren't able to order the Mac Minis anymore, and "they have been told by Apple to expect no more of it." However, the Mac Mini has enjoyed had brisk sales on Amazon.com, placing in the top five of the online retailer's best selling desktops, according to Wired.com.

Stay tuned for further developments—and of course, rumors.
