SlingPlayer Mobile For BlackBerry Coming Dec. 30
The application lets BlackBerry users watch and control home TVs and DVRs directly on a Research In Motion BlackBerry device via a SlingBox. San Mateo, Calif.-based SlingMedia's TV streaming device lets users remotely view their home's cable, satellite or personal video recorder from a computer over a broadband Internet connection.
According to SlingMedia, BlackBerry users can watch streamed video from their SlingBox over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection. Supported BlackBerry handsets must be running OS 4.5.
Initially, SlingPlayer Mobile will be available for the BlackBerry Bold 9000, the BlackBerry Curve 8900, also known as the BlackBerry Javelin, the BlackBerry Curve 8820, the BlackBerry Curve 8320, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and the BlackBerry Pearl 8120. More device models are expected to follow.
SlingMedia has made available an online tool to check whether your BlackBerry is compatible with the software.
SlingMedia said versions will be available for the U.S., Canada and the U.K. as a free download during the beta period.
The SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry beta will be available through SlingMedia on Dec. 30.
