Dell Debuts Studio XPS 16 Notebooks At CES

At the entry-level price point, customers can expect to get a laptop loaded with Windows Vista and a 320-GB hard drive, 4GB of memory and an 8X. For a couple extra hundred dollars, Dell offers an Intel Core Duo P8600 processor, DVD+ or Blu-Ray drive and a 500-GB hard drive. Each version of the laptop comes with an ATI Mobility RADEON M86XT video card.

This machine is definitely aimed at consumers who are looking to show off their multimedia muscle. The Dell Studio XPS 16 is dressed to impress, with leather accents, anodized aluminum, an edge-to-edge display and backlit keyboard. The Studio XPS 16 comes equipped with a 16-inch screen with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1080p HD support and optional RGB-LED for enhanced visual quality.

In addition to the multimedia muscle and impressive specs that the Studio XPS 16 brings to photographers and video editors, it appears to be a pretty solid machine overall. No doubt, Dell introduced the enhanced Studio XPS line to compete with HP's HDX 16t notebook. It may be too soon to tell, but Dell's entry may have just shot to the front of the pack.

The Dell Studio XPS 16 is available to customers directly through Dell's Web site. Price starts at $1,199 for the low-end model and ranges to $1,699 for all the bells and whistles.
