Asus Goes Premium With New Notebooks

With the preview of two new notebooks, the new Asus U and UX series, Asus is looking to include as many of the style and design bells and whistles in its notebooks as possible.

In a feature Asus calls "reminiscent of Paris in the evening," the U and UX series of notebooks sport a backlit "Chiclet" keyboard.

Built-in artificial intelligence adds another layer of design to the concept of the U and UX series. The AI light sensor technology automatically detects the amount of available light in the immediate vicinity and changes the output delivered by the LED-powered 15.6-inch display.

Another design-focused touch added to Asus U series notebooks is the illuminated touchpad, which lights up and then fades as fingers are moved around it.

The Asus U Series notebook comes equipped with an Intel Core Duo 2 processor, a 500-GB hard drive and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce G 105M with 512 MB of memory.

No official release date for the Asus U and UX series was provided.
