Motorola's Smallest Computer Yet

display

Motorola solution provider partners have the flexibility to give their enterprise customers the appropriate feature set depending on the workers involved, rather than provide all (often nonapplicable) features for all workers. Resellers can therefore reduce customers' capital expenditures and the overall cost of a mobility solution.

Two models are available -- the MC5590 and the MC5574 -- in multiple configurations. The MC5590 is designed for indoor employees (such as health-care workers) who require Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. It can function as a cell phone, two-way radio, bar-code scanner, digital camera and mobile computer. Pricing starts at $1,695.

The other model, the MC5574, is designed with outdoor workers in mind, such as postal carriers or maintenance workers. It includes the 5590's functionality, but also has wireless WAN capability and GPS. Pricing starts at $2,395.

The MC55 is built for year-round use in nearly any environment, with rugged sealing, and can survive a 4-foot drop to concrete.

The MC55 is based on the Marvell XScale PXA270 520MHz processor and Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. A number of add-ons also are available, such as a 1-D laser scanner, a 2-D imager and a 2-megapixel auto-focus high-resolution digital color camera.
