Dell Adds 12.1-Inch Notebook To Vostro Lineup
The Vostro 1120 is a 12.1-inch notebook that weighs less than 4 pounds and is about 1.5 inches thick. This business-class notebook from Dell continues to blur the lines between netbooks and notebooks, with customers continuing to respond to lightweight, ultraportable laptops.
Unlike a netbook, the Vostro 1120 is equipped with a beefier set of specs designed to handle the day-to-day needs of a business user. The basic version of the 1120 comes with an Intel Celeron 900 processor, but the Vostro can be upgraded to an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
Memory for the business-class notebook starts at 2 GB of DDR 2 memory but can be upgraded all the way to 4 GB. Storage on the laptop starts at 160 GB but runs all the way up to 320 GB with a free fall sensor equipped.
Customers have the option of a 4-cell or 6-cell Li-ion battery as well as the choice of a red or black chassis. Connectivity is handled by an embedded internal modem and an integrated Gigabit Ethernet Network card. Customers have the option of purchasing the Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth 2.1 as well as a Wimax card. An optical drive is also included with the system, which can be loaded with Windows Vista Home, Ultimate or Business.
While the size and weight of the Vostro 1120 notebook may evoke images of a netbook, this system from Dell definitely is not. Most netbooks come equipped with a version of the Intel Atom processor and have a price tag under $500.
Dell's 12.1-inch Vostro 1120 notebook starts at $799 and is currently available to be ordered.
