Ozzie Speaks On Simple Sharing

Now that Ray Ozzie's back blogging (he's started and stopped a few times now), he's on the RSS bandwagon big time.

According to his latest post, Microsoft has created an RSS add-on or add-ons called Simple Sharing Extensions or SSE. That technology will be finding its way into company prototypes and demos within weeks.

In theory this technology would enable bi- or multi-directional feeds of information where RSS is pretty much a one-way syndication flow.

"But," writes Ozzie, " RSS is compelling because of the power inherent in its simplicity." Hence the need for extensions building atop RSS for a new world where people need to share some (not all) information with their family, colleagues, business partners.

Even RSS pioneer Dave Winer seems to be aboard on this one.
