Security statistics are scary stuff and you don’t have to look very hard to find something you won’t want to see.

Data breaches cost an average $3.62 million in 2017, which is actually a 10 percent decrease from the previous year, according to Juniper Research. Yet, the average size of a data breach in 2017 was 24,089 records, an increase of 1.8 percent from the previous year.

What does that mean? Data breaches cost less, per breach, but the volume of those breaches has increased. Oh, and the likelihood of a data breach happening again in the next 24 months is 27.7 percent.

An enhanced security posture must address threats from the servers all the way out to the perimeter.
