ConvergeOne Takes Aim At West Coast Expansion With Advantel Acquisition

ConvergeOne, which went public earlier this year, has acquired Advantel Networks, in a move that expands the company’s customer base on the West Coast, a region that ConvergeOne CEO John A. McKenna Jr. called a “key area” for the company’s growth plans.

Both companies are ranking solution providers on the 2018 CRN Solution Provider 500, with ConvergeOne coming in at No. 34, and Advantel sitting at No. 265.

“With this acquisition, ConvergeOne gains the strategic resources to elevate our role as a leading provider of multi-vendor collaboration technologies, support and services,"McKenna said in a statement. "Advantel's highly skilled employees and committed customer base on the West Coast expands our presence from San Diego to Vancouver, a key area of opportunity for us going forward."

Founded in 1984, Advantel, based in San Jose, Calif., delivers critical collaboration solutions and services, including security, data centers, storage and virtualization, unified communications, contact centers, and cloud and managed services, to businesses worldwide. Following the acquisition, Advantel becomes “Advantel, a ConvergeOne Company.”

ConvergeOne, an Eagan, Minn.-based IT services giant, went public in February, trading on the Nasdaq under the symbol CVON.

ConvergeOne’s share price was up $0.07 this morning to $9.38 a share.

Earlier acquisitions included the $300 million networking company Strategic Products and Services (SPS), an MSP that was No. 74 on the 2017 CRN Solution Provider 500; Cisco gold partner Annese and communications and data solutions powerhouse Sigmanet.
