Highwall Watches Over LANs

“The ability to offer clients a more complete end-to-end WLAN will dramatically impact our bottom line,” he said. “Highwall will be a huge part of that.”

ireless security vendor Highwall Technologies unveiled Mobile and Personal monitoring suites to secure wireless LANs for the small-business space.

The Highwall Mobile and Personal product suites were released last month and are now available to solution providers. They work in conjunction with Highwall wireless sensors and other vendors’ sensors to constantly watch over a customer’s wireless network, said Joy Randels, senior vice president of sales.

“If someone tries to get on your wireless network, you’ll know about it,” she said. “For solution providers specializing in wireless and security, this is the solution they’ve dreamed of.”

Randels said the new product suites can integrate with a host of security event management and network management systems, including eTrust and Unicenter from Computer Associates International, Islandia, N.Y.

To help spark sales, Highwall, Sarasota, Fla., also rolled out a starter kit that includes two sensors and software for $5,000. One starter kit is strong enough to secure a wireless network that spans two 100,000-square-foot buildings—more than enough coverage for a small or midsize business.

Rudy Widjaja, president and CEO of solution provider Global Technology Development Solutions, Seattle, said the starter kit should enable his company to introduce a host of new SMB customers to Highwall.

“A lot of companies that come to us either don’t have wireless or they have it and they don’t know what to do with it,” Widjaja said. “This solution is a great way for these companies to get [their wireless networks] off the ground.”

Ron Ben-Yishay, senior vice president of sales at Dyntek, Irvine, Calif., agreed, adding that just because a company is categorized as a small business doesn’t mean it deserves second-class technology.
