While untethered voice communications has its benefits, many cell phone users are faced with the arduous task of maintaining call directories, which in many cases are stored in an e-mail application or contact tracking database, forcing users to manually duplicate those entries on their cell phones.
Enter Susteen’s DataPilot, a software and hardware package that allows the importing and exporting of contact information between many cell phones and contact management software such as Outlook, Palm and Act. DataPilot offers calendar integration features, an image editor, Internet data connect, a ring-tone composer and an SMS manager. The Internet data connect feature allows any supported cell phone to be used as a cellular modem, while the calendar function supports import and export between the PC and a cell phone.

DataPilot is available as a phone-specific kit or as a universal version with cables to allow phones from Motorola, LG, Samsung, Sanyo, Nokia and Sony Ericsson to be connected via USB. Phone-specific kits vary in price. The universal kit retails for $79.95.
