Kingston Technology has released a 512-MB Elite Pro High-Speed SD Card, the latest generation of high-capacity, small form factor digital storage devices, and a 1-GB standard SD card. The two new SD cards offer higher performance and greater capacity for a multitude of applications, making them expansion options for SD-enabled devices, such as digital audio players, digital cameras, PDAs and cellular phones. Designed for the digital professional and power user, the SD/512-S Elite Pro provides faster transfer rates for anyone wanting increased performance from digital devices that utilize SD Card technology. The SD/1GB standard card stores large amounts of data in a secure environment for SD Card users.

SD/512-S features include data transfer rates of up to 7.7-MBps write-rate, and up to 8.2 MBps read-rate; a small form factor (about the size of a postage stamp) security functions that include a built-in write-protect switch that prevents accidental data loss; a lifetime warranty; plug-and-play functionality; and low-power consumption. Cost is $62.The SD/1GB card, at $94, has the same benefits of the SD/512-S and up to 5-MBps read-rate and a 1.5-MBps write-rate.
