FalconStor FDS Version 2.0
FalconStor released a new file-interface system with block-level deduplication. FDS Version 2.0 offers support for Symantec OpenStorage, an increased fan-in ratio of 150 to 1, a replication dashboard for realtime status monitoring, granular replication support and collision avoidance for data consistency and prevention of data loss. With built-in many-to-one replication capacity, the file-interface system provides global deduplication by replicating from remote sites to a central data repository across the WAN. FalconStor FDS 2.0 is aimed at small to midsize businesses and large enterprises and was slated to be available in late February through FalconStor's worldwide network of channel partners.
NitroView ESM and ELM Version 8.4
NitroSecurity unveiled a log management and security information and event management (SIEM) solution with version 8.4 of NitroView Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) and Enterprise Log Manager (ELM). Version 8.4 of ESM and ELM is available now and offers new capabilities for compliance and realtime security responsiveness, while reducing time spent on post-event analysis/forensics. Content-Aware SIEM functionality including geo-location tracking offers a visual representation of where activities such as user/application traffic or security attacks are originating, down to Zip codes. NitroSecurity collects and manages events, logs, network activity flows and application content while offering realtime analytics for incident response and event correlation.
Synology DiskStation DS710+
Synology America launched an addition to its two-bay DiskStation line. The DS710+ is a scalable two-bay NAS server that grows from two bays to seven bays with the DX510 expansion enclosure for a total of 14 TB of storage. The DS710+ comes with built-in file sharing, automatic backup, remote access, Web hosting, e-mail hosting and media streaming and is equipped with the new Intel Atom D410 CPU, one Gigabit LAN port, three USB ports and 1 GB DDR2 RAM. The data hub also offers green features. These ecologically friendly features include low power consumption, wake on LAN, scheduled power off and hard drive hibernation. The DS710+ comes with Synology Disk Station Manager (DSM) 2.2; the new Synology DSM 2.3 is scheduled for official release this month. DSM 2.3 will include new features such as Volume Manager, Synology Hybrid RAID, share level encryption and backup to the cloud with Amazon S3 service.
Corsair Reactor Series, Nova Series SSDs
Recently joining Corsair's family of solid-state drives are the Reactor Series and Nova Series. The Reactor Series, including 60-GB and 120-GB drive capacities, is built using the JMicron JMF612 controller, incorporating 128 MB of DDR2 cache memory. The 120-GB Reactor Series SSD delivers speeds of up to 250 MBps read and 170 MBps write, while the 60-GB Reactor Series SSD features speeds of up to 250 MBps read and 110 MBps write. The Nova Series is built using the Indilinx Barefoot controller with 64 MB of cache memory and is offered in drive sizes of 64 GB and 128 GB. The 128-GB Nova Series SSD is able to achieve speeds of up to 270 MBps read and 190 MBps write, while the 64-GB Nova Series SSD delivers speeds of up to 270 MBps read and 130 MBps write. Both Reactor Series and Nova Series SSDs fully support the TRIM command in Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems and are available immediately from Corsair's authorized distributors and resellers worldwide.
Netgear ReadyNAS Solutions for Virtualized Environments
Netgear recently announced the addition of two high-performance network storage platforms for optimized storage virtualization applications to its family of ReadyNAS products. With support for up to 500 users, ReadyNAS 3100 and ReadyNAS 4200 are ideal as primary storage solutions for midrange enterprises and high-performance secondary solutions for larger businesses. ReadyNAS provides high-performance data storage along with integrated replication and backup options in virtualized IT infrastructures. ReadyNAS 3100 is a 1U four-bay rack-mountable storage platform that can come equipped with 4 TB or 8 TB of storage capacity in a single system. The ReadyNAS 4200 is a 2U 12-bay rack-mountable storage platform and can come equipped with 12 TB or 24 TB and two redundant drives in a single system. In addition, the ReadyNAS 4200, with 12 SATA channels, supports the 10 Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure. Both the ReadyNAS 3100 and the ReadyNAS 4200 are VMware-ready, unified storage systems powered by the Linux-based ReadyNAS RAIDiator operating system and offer unified architecture support for both NAS and iSCSI SAN applications. The ReadyNAS Solutions are slated to be available in late April of this year.
Fishbowl's Wireless Inventory Solution
Fishbowl adds Fishbowl Mobile Warehouse inventory software for use with Fishbowl Inventory 2010 and Quickbooks, allowing Fishbowl Mobile users to wirelessly process, transfer and receive warehouse inventory in realtime. The software can be installed on an unlimited number of scanners within the warehouse for a one-time fee of $1,595. Scanned information is stored in the handheld device and processed to Fishbowl Inventory at the end of the order, preventing data loss and data errors. If a user exits the warehouse's wireless coverage area, data is automatically preserved and ready to resubmit once the connection is re-established. Fishbowl Mobile's winning feature is the realtime receiving, picking and retrieving of part information, granting users the ability to log inventory with tracking information at receiving, combine multiple orders and pick them simultaneously as well as look up part descriptions, UPCs and tracking information in realtime.
Avenda Systems' eTIPS 3.0 Identity-Aware Network Security Solution
Avenda Systems introduced eTIPS 3.0, a new identity-based authentication and NAC capability for securing today's enterprise networks. Included in the eTIPS 3.0 release are two new solutions, eTIPS VM, a virtual appliance offering for the data center, and Edge, a remote access authentication gateway. In addition, eTIPS' multifunction platform has undergone enhancements that include comprehensive health checks for Microsoft Windows 7, 802.1.xdeployment support for the iPhone OS and the hosting of Web-based captive portals for the industry's leading wireless solutions. Deployed in conjunction with eTIPS, Avenda's new Edge remote access authentication gateway enables access enforcement based on the health status of endpoints used by remote users over VPN devices. Health policies, such as antimalware, firewall, patches and corporate image checks configured for wired and wireless access, can now be used to authorize corporate-owned and user-owned devices accessing corporate resources over a remote VPN connection. This new release also introduces built-in support of external captive portals for Enterasys, Cisco, Aruba and Xirrus wireless equipment.
MSI Computer's New All-in-One PCs
MSI's Wind Top All-in-One 3D PC integrates 3-D display technology with CPU processing. The 24-inch 120Hz LED display and full HD (1,080p) resolution and 3-D shutter glasses take the 3-D movie theater experience out of the theater. Another new set of AIO PCs from MSI Computer coming to market are Wind Top AE2420 and Wind Top AE2280 All-in-One PCs, equipped with Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors and Intel's Turbo Boost Technology. For business users, MSI Computer brings new eco-friendly models to the stage, offering the Wind Top AP1920 and AE1920, 19- and 20-inch All-in-One PCs as well as Wind Box Mini-PCs (Hetis/DC520/DE220 10L, 4.7L and 2L), providing the required processing power for business users with 90 percent lower average hourly energy consumption than a traditional 300W desktop PC.
256-GB Data- Traveler 310 By Kingston Digital
Kingston Digital, the flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology, released two products--a 256-GB USB flash drive, the DataTraveler 310, and an SDHC Class 10 card. The DataTraveler 310 features Password Traveler software, which allows the user to create and access a password-protected privacy zone; the secure area of the drive can account for up to 90 percent of the drive's capacity and does not require administrator rights. OSes compatible with the DataTraveler 310 include Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS X v. 10.3.x+ as well as Linux v.2.6.x+, though Password Traveler is only compatible with the Windows OSes. Kingston Digital's SDHC Class 10 card is available in 16-GB and 32-GB capacities and is designed to meet the SD Association Specification 3.00 with a guaranteed minimum data transfer rate of 10 MBps. Ideal for camcorders, digital SLRs and advanced point-and-shoot cameras, the Kingston SDHC Class 10 cards have suggested retail prices of $129 for the 16-GB card and $245 for the 32-GB card.
