About The 2006 CRN Channel Compensation Survey

The survey also provides data on compensation trends by certification levels, years of experience, size of company and region.

In the vendor compensation portion of the survey, CRN additionally questioned 406 solution providers who identified themselves as managers on topics relating to the compensation their companies receive from vendor partners.

Solution providers were asked to identify which of eight types of vendor compensation their companies received, including SPIFs, margins, rebates, agents' fees, service opportunities, maintenance opportunities and discounted/free demo units.

The managers were then asked to rate the importance of and their satisfaction with each of the forms of vendor compensation they receive. The ratings were based on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being "very important" or "very satisfied."

In addition, solution providers were asked to identify which of nine technology areas their companies were engaged to determine differences in satisfaction and importance ratings by area.
