OnForce Taps PC Connection Exec As New CEO

Cannone, who was senior vice president of sales and marketing at PC Connection, replaces Kevin Gilroy, who last month said he was leaving OnForce to join Arrow Electronics as president of the Melville, New York-based distributor's Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions business unit.

Cannone said his top priority is to understand the business plan that New York-based OnForce put in place in 2006 and what worked over the past year. "The biggest thing for me is to get OnForce out in the marketplace and continue to promote the messaging of what OnForce can do for the channel, for SMB and other customers and make OnForce the full IT exchange for service providers," he said.

Companies like PC Connection, CDW and Insight are all trying to figure out the services landscape and how they can scale services, according to Cannone. "When I saw the OnForce model, I saw the opportunity OnForce brings to these businesses," he said. "It allows them to focus on their businesses without adding the additional expense of service technicians or certifications."

OnForce said that in 2006, it completed more than 300,000 work orders and has expanded its service offerings beyond core IT services to include consumer electronics, VoIP and point-of-sale technology.
