BlackBerry Gemini 9300 Details Emerge

The BlackBerry 9300, known right now as the Gemini, is similar to a BlackBerry Curve but with 3G connectivity, making it more like a BlackBerry Bold 9000 in a Curve's body, according the gadget blog the Boy Genius Report, which got a hold of some Gemini specifications. The addition of 3G would be a big boost, considering the Curve 8900, which will hit T-Mobile stores on Wednesday Feb. 11, lacks the high-speed connectivity.

According to the early specs, the Gemini will have a larger and higher resolution screen than the BlackBerry Curve 8900. It will also offer a faster CPU and a more rounded QWERTY keyboard than the 8900.

The device is expected to come in sliver and have send and end keys that are rounded instead of flat on the side. The styling of the device keeps a similar theme to the Curve 8900 and the touch-screen BlackBerry storm.

The device is expected to be quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA. It is not yet confirmed if the device offers Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, but if BlackBerry's recent stable of devices are any indication, they will be included. The device will also likely feature a camera, but the specs haven't yet been leaked. But if the past is any indicator, a 3.2-megapixel camera or better should be tied in.

So far, details of the Gemini are just speculative and no solid release date or pricing are available. Some industry watchers predict it will hit stores either late this year or early in 2010.
