iPhone Too Hot? That May Be The Least Of Your Problems

Other users are pointing to a variety of problems real and perceived with their new Apple iPhone 3G S smartphones, including vibrations, poor battery life, noisy silent switches, and more.

Not even Apple itself is immune to problems. When clicking to enter a discussion page on Monday, Apple's Web site often gets stuck and replies with this message: "We're sorry, Apple Discussions is temporarily unavailable. We'll be back soon."

Several users have posted questions about rattling noises with their iPhone 3G S. Other users said the problem is related to either the silent switch on the smartphone or its digital camera autofocus, and suggest living with the noise as it does not indicate any problems.

Other problems and possible fixes mentioned by multiple users include the application icons changing, which some said can be fixed by downloading the applications from iTunes or just waiting, and a high-frequency noise that appears to go away if the 3G function is turned off.

Other complaints include difficulties listening to someone on the phone even with the volume turned all the way up, or the touch screen becoming temporarily unresponsive at random times.

Sometimes the issue is one of perception rather than an actual problem. For instance, several users responded to questions about the iPhone 3G S screens having a pronounced yellow tint compared to those of the iPhone 3G by saying that Apple changed the screens to give it a "warmer" color.

Some problems have popped up so recently that users have not had a chance to suggest fixes, such as a complaint by several users that the iPhone's incoming call ringer turns off too quickly, giving them no time to answer the phone.
