MSP CEO Launches Current, A New Company Aimed At Bringing AI-First Automation To MSP Sales, Projects

‘It’s completely different from everything else that’s on the market from an ease-of-use, from a modern and AI-forward perspective,’ says Kevin Damghani, CEO of Current as well as CEO of ITPartners+. ‘It’s a platform that can really help MSPs manage projects and manage their CRM tool natively.’

New AI-centric and MSP-focused company Current has launched with a new tool that brings together project management, CRM and sales tools into one modern layer while letting MSPs keep the professional services automation systems they already use.

Developed by ITPartners+ CEO Kevin Damghani, Current acts as an overlay to existing PSA platforms, pulling information from the systems MSPs already rely on and turning it into sales, project and customer insight.

“It’s completely different from everything else that’s on the market from an ease-of-use, from a modern and AI-forward perspective,” Damghani, who is also CEO of Current, told CRN. “It’s a platform that can really help MSPs manage projects and manage their CRM tool natively.”

Current integrates with more than 30 common MSP tools, including Halo, ConnectWise and Autotask, with more to come. The idea, Damghani said, is to make the PSA the central source of truth while giving MSP employees a simpler interface.

The concept grew out of the CEO’s own frustrations while evaluating project management tools for his MSP.

“We were looking at project management tools for our PSA, and what it really came down to was that all three of those platforms did different things better than the other,” he said. “But we didn’t feel like any of them were modern and did what MSPs actually want to do from an ease-of-use perspective. There was a lot of bloat in those tools that just made them hard to use.”

Pricing also became a sticking point, he said, especially when features were separated into additional paid modules.

“That kind of frustrated us, and it really launched us into building our own platform,” he said. “So it came out of vendor pricing not being modern, really, and that’s what kind of led us to it.”

Current initially focused on project management before expanding into CRM and sales functionality. Its AI capabilities now analyze information across connected systems to help MSPs identify what needs attention.

Current can evaluate customer sentiment, tickets, emails, renewals and account activity. And its “white space” capability, which Damghani said is patent-pending, analyzes what an MSP currently sells to a customer and finds potential gaps based on customer behavior.

“It’s using AI to read all the user-submitted inbound tickets, as well as emails within the MSP from the engineers and everything along those lines,” he said. “It can categorize that and say, ‘Hey, this customer has asked about security awareness training in different ways via tickets and email seven times.’”

An account manager can then drill into the underlying tickets and emails and see the potential opportunity, including pricing.

“Now, as an account manager, there’s a hot opportunity in my book,” he said. “The users keep asking about, ‘Is this a phishing email?’ But we’re not even selling them security awareness training. It prices those opportunities.”

Current also uses AI to help automate business reviews. Its QBR functionality pulls information from connected systems, analyzes the data, and produces a customer-facing review that Damghani described as being designed more like a magazine than a traditional MSP report.

About 20 MSPs have already signed onto Current since its Sept. 1 soft launch, ranging from a three-person MSP to organizations with 50- and 80-person teams.

Frank Diaz, president of Jupiter, Fla.-based Omzig, said Current’s AI-first approach fits with his MSP’s push to bring AI to SMB clients. And its integrations with Autotask and Kaseya Quote Manager have helped the company move quicker with sales and project work.

“Current has streamlined our sales and project workflows, helping us accelerate quote delivery, improve operational efficiency and spend more time focused on clients instead of administration,” Diaz told CRN. “They operate like a true partner. Their leadership team is accessible, responsive and genuinely listens to feedback, which gives us confidence that the platform will continue to evolve alongside the needs of modern MSPs.”

Looking ahead, Current’s road map includes additional overlay modules such as service desk and procurement capabilities.

“Check it out, integrate your PSA and you’ll see the power of it right away,” he added. “I promise you that your jaw will be dropped.”
