WebEx Buys Intranets.com

The acquisition enables WebEx to add asynchronous collaboration tools to its realtime offerings.

It also marries two organizations that glean some portion of their sales through the channel. Based in Burlington, Mass., Intranets.com has about 100 reseller partners, which account for approximately 20 percent of its business. WebEx, of Santa Clara, Calif., works with telecommunications providers, integration partners such as Salesforce.com, and professional services organizations. The company said about 14 percent of its sales go through its channel.

Intranets.com&'s offices will remain in Massachusetts, according to the companies. Current CEO Rick Faulk will stay on as head of the subsidiary. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
