Siebel, IBM Unveil Pact To Enable Seamless UAN, WebSphere Interoperation

Siebel now offers 120 customer-facing business processes that work within UAN, company executives said during the Siebel User Week conference in San Diego.

Siebel's UAN defines the business processes inherent in CRM efforts and also defines data transformations between processes. IBM's WebSphere integration servers orchestrate the different processes and objects involved in the integration. The UAN/WebSphere combination gives Siebel systems integrators a tool that enables a gradual transition from Siebel release 6 to release 7, the companies said.

"There's nothing that precludes Siebel's channel partners from selling the software or fulfilling the implementation," said Paraic Sweeney, vice president of marketing for IBM's WebSphere Business Integration. "We encourage Siebel integration partners to use our WebSphere Integration centers to get the support they need to do that."

Customers and channel partners will continue to buy Siebel's UAN software from Siebel, and IBM's WebSphere software from IBM, the companies said.
