IBM, i2 Announce New Supply-Chain Solutions

The supply chain solutions are aimed at helping enterprises successfully manage supply and demand. They include transportation and distribution solutions that help companies manage freight movements; order fulfillment and sourcing and procurement workflows; solutions for more effectively managing customer demand; and solutions to help make supply chains more agile and efficient while controlling inventory.

Continental Tire, based in Hannover, Germany, is one of the companies that has used the i2 solutions and IBM hardware, middleware and services to optimize its supply chain.

"i2 has enabled Continental to move from a manufacturing view to a business process view of supply chain management," Paul Schwefer, CIO, Continental AG said in a statement. "The work IBM and i2 do together to test and certify i2 applications for IBM infrastructure has reduced the total cost of ownership and reduced the time it has taken our company to implement the i2 solution."

The announcement was made at the i2 Planet shows in San Diego, which ended yesterday.
