Ingram Micro Launches Linux Strategy

The distributor announced a suite of Linux and other open-source-based technology products, solutions, support and training services at IBM PartnerWorld in Las Vegas this week.

The offerings include new Linux-focused resources in marketing, technical support, solution center training and demand generation programs, Ingram Micro said.

In addition, solution providers can attend the first of several training sessions May 13 in Santa Ana, the Santa Ana, Calif.-based company said.

"Our solution provider and manufacturer partners rely on us for more than just product," said Kevin Murai, president of Ingram Micro North America, in a statement. "We're an extension of their sales and support teams. Our technical engineers and sales teams help them meet and even anticipate customer demands."

Ingram Micro has added several Linux and open-source platform products from several vendors, including Red Hat, Computer Associates International, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM, Legato, Novell, SuperMicro, Trend Micro, Veritas and VMware.
