Cisco Sets Up Four-Square-Mile Hotspot In Ohio City

The network was built by DHB Networks of Ohio provides wireless broadband and fiber internet services to municipalities.

The Wi-Fi deployment, announced Friday, connects to DubLink, the city's existing fiber network system. In addition to serving Dublin city departments, the network will be offered to local businesses and residents by DHB.

DHB Networks is deploying Cisco's Aironet 1500 Series lightweight outdoor mesh access point, Cisco's 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controllers and Cisco's Wireless Control system. Cisco's 3200 Mobile Access Routers will provide mobile access for public safety units.

Initially, the network will cover four square miles in the heart of the city.

By utilizing Cisco's mobile router located in a mobile communications vehicle, law enforcement officials can wirelessly transmit video from surveillance cameras, the firms said.
