Oracle Bolsters App Configuration Offerings With mValent Buy

Oracle said it expects to complete the acquisition of privately held mValent by the middle of the year. Until then the Waltham, Mass.-based company will continue to operate independently. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The mValent software is used to manage application configurations across IT environments. Adding the mValent technology to Oracle Enterprise Manager will help businesses boost application uptime and improve their IT audit and governance processes, Oracle said. The company said mValent's technology is complementary with its earlier acquisitions of Auptyma, ClearApp, Empirix and Moniforce.

MValent is already a technology partner with Oracle, as well as with BEA Systems (which Oracle acquired last year), BMC Software, Hewlett-Packard and IBM. Leading mValent customers include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Direct TV and Kohl's.
