The new Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com is an integrated development environment for building cloud-based, rich Internet applications that can be deployed through a browser using the Adobe Flash Player or onto desktop systems using Adobe Air. Force.com is Salesforce's cloud computing platform.

"This strategic partnership with Salesforce.com has opened up a significant opportunity to tightly integrate our platforms for the development and delivery of rich, highly productive business applications that can be quickly deployed in the cloud, adapted and scaled as the business changes and grows," said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president of Adobe's Platform Business Unit, in a statement.

The companies said the jointly developed Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com provides a way to manage and synchronize data between cloud-based systems and client applications. In addition to building entirely new applications, the new development tool can be used to extend and enhance existing Salesforce CRM implementations, such as by adding new user interface elements, and customer-built Force.com applications.

Adobe is offering a developer preview of Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com through the Salesforce developer Web site. The software is slated for general availability in the first half of 2010.
