Microsoft Taps Office Software Exec To Replace Exiting Wahbe
Takeshi Numoto, currently corporate vice president of Microsoft's Office product management group, will take the job being vacated by Robert Wahbe at the end of February, a Microsoft spokesperson said.
The head of marketing for Microsoft's Server and Tools Division is responsible for product and business management for some of Microsoft's most significant products including Windows Server, SQL Server, Visual Studio, System Center and Forefront.
Numoto has worked at Microsoft since September 1997 when he joined as a business development manager on the Windows NT program management team, according to his Microsoft online biography, last updated Jan. 5, 2009. He later worked on extending the Windows operating system into non-PC devices with Windows Embedded and Windows Mobile, before moving to the Microsoft Business Division.
The pending departure of Wahbe, corporate vice president of Server and Tools marketing, was disclosed earlier this week when his online biography was updated to say he would be leaving Microsoft at the end of February. The company hasn't disclosed why Wahbe is leaving, with the spokesman only saying he is departing "to embark on a new path after more than 15 years at Microsoft."
"We thank [Wahbe] for his tremendous accomplishments at the company, and feel fortunate indeed that we have a great leader in place in Takeshi Numoto to take on the Server and Tools marketing leadership role," the spokesperson said in a statement.
