CA Names New CFO

Plans call for Davis to take over the CFO post on March 1. He will report to COO Jeff Clarke, who handled CA's CFO duties since joining the Islandia, N.Y.-based technology vendor in April 2004.

Davis comes to CA after an eight-year stint at Dell, where he rose to vice president of corporate finance and chief accounting officer. Before Dell, he was assistant corporate controller at MCI Communications.

Davis said he has been watching CA and is impressed by the way the company has navigated through troubled times, which have included a federal investigation of past accounting practices and the indictment of its former chairman and CEO, Sanjay Kumar.

"CA has done a remarkable job of transforming itself over the last year, and as an outsider I have been watching with great interest," Davis said. "I did take a hard look at the new accounting model that was put in place in 2000. I am very comfortable with the manner of reporting, and a lot of the issues are behind them.

"I'm excited to be part of what I see as a new CA," he added.
