Dan Serpico, the former CEO of CRN Solution Provider 500 powerhouse FusionStorm, which was acquired last year by $5 billion European systems integrator Computacenter, has taken a new job as CEO of software maker CodeMantra.

CodeMantra is one of the leaders in the document transformation business, helping Fortune 500 companies and SLED (state, local and education) government agencies with innovative artificial intelligence technology to help make documents accessible for the visually impaired or those with challenges such as dyslexia.

“The market opportunity for this business is huge,” said Serpico, who last week took the helm at the Burlington, Mass.-based software maker, which has 550 employees. “I am just very excited to be in this market with leading-edge technology. We are like a 12-year-old startup.”

Serpico has an impressive technology solutions record. He took the helm of FusionStorm in 2010 with the solution provider in the midst of financial turmoil and teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and built it into a premier solution provider—No. 51 on the 2018 CRN Solution Provider 500.

Serpico said he is busy meeting employees and customers and is looking forward to scaling the business so the company can grab a bigger slice of the document transformation market.

When asked about the entrepreneurial culture at CodeMantra, Serpico replied, "Are you kidding me? I'm drinking from a fire hose. This place has so much creative energy and my investors are committed to growth. We are investing in our software and next-generation infrastructure initiatives like building the sales force, recruiting new partners and looking at ways to expand into new markets.”

Serpico said he sees a bright future ahead for employees, investors and customers teaming with CodeMantra. “We are on the ground floor of an enormous market opportunity,” he said. “This is all about being part of a World Series winner. There is enormous opportunity here for everyone.”
