Bluum Names Zones Exec As Its New CEO

Bluum has hired Zones President and COO Derrek Hallock as its new top executive.


Bluum, a Phoenix-based top-ranking solution provider in the education space that partners with Google, Microsoft and Intel, has a new CEO.

The company—No. 63 on CRN’s 2023 Solution Provider 500—has hired Zones President and COO Derrek Hallock as its new top executive. Hallock updated his LinkedIn account and the Bluum website was updated in January to reflect the change.

Hallock succeeds Erez Pikar, who led Bluum as CEO starting in 2018. Pikar’s LinkedIn account shows that he is still a board member.

Before joining Bluum, Pikar served as CEO of CDI Technologies for about 10 years, accordingto his LinkedIn account.

Hallock worked at Auburn, Wash.-based Zones—No. 29 on CRN’s 2023 Solution Provider 500—for about 10 years, according to his LinkedIn account. He joined in 2013 as senior vice president of partner and product marketing and became COO in 2017. He added the president title in 2020.

Hallock’s resume includes about seven years with Tech Data, leaving the IT distributor in 2013 with the title of vice president of marketing. Tech Data merged with Synnex in 2021.

Bluum has more than 5,000 customer accounts, more than 60,000 types of computer products available and more than 200 account executives in the U.S. and Canada, according to the company’s website.

It also offers cybersecurity, AV and consulting services, among other other offerings.

In December, Bluum hired a new CFO, Dan Groskreutz, whose resume includes more than four years with Appvion, according to his LinkedIn account.
