Channel Vet Juan Fernandez Launches MSP Owners Group, Taps CEO: Exclusive

‘As each MSP joins, we identify their strengths, whether it’s a specific vertical or a customer type, and share those across the group. It’s a happy family of opportunity,’ says Juan Fernandez, founder of MSP Owners Group.

A new roll-up MSP has emerged, and founder Juan Fernandez is forging a new path. MSP Owners Group acquires and enables MSPs that are looking to grow, collaborate and eventually exit without sacrificing the company’s culture or legacy.

Spearheaded by Fernandez, who is an MSP industry veteran and channel chief, MSP-OG is a global collective “built by MSPs, for MSPs,” focused on providing community-driven support, scalable operations and purpose-driven acquisitions.

“What we’re building is not just a business strategy, it’s a movement,” Fernandez told CRN in an exclusive interview. “We’re preserving cultures, empowering employees and setting a new standard for what success can look like in this industry.”

The Dallas-based company’s first two acquisitions were Chicago-based ProdigyTeks and Houston-based Cool Technology Group. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Paco Lebron, CEO of ProdigyTeks, will take over as CEO of MSP-OG and will oversee the company’s strategy to unify MSPs under one ecosystem.

“Our leadership model is different,” Lebron told CRN. “We’re making sure the people coming under our umbrella don’t feel lost. We want to be a resource, a light, for others in the channel who may feel like they’re just one step away from success but aren’t sure how to get there.”

Unlike traditional MSP consolidation models driven by private equity, self-funded MSP-OG is positioning itself to uplift small to midsize MSPs by building community and providing resources to scale their businesses.

“This is not just about us growing for the sake of growth,” Lebron said. “It’s about proving there’s a different way to operate in this industry, one grounded in community, transparency and support.”

He added that this move gives MSPs the ability to expand that mission while staying true to their core values of service and community.

ProdigyTeks will remain operationally run by a selected manager or CEO. Chris Cool, CEO of Cool Technology Group, will be heading up the company’s financing and leasing department. Other C-level executives will be announced in the coming months, according to Fernandez.

“I’ve worked with Juan for over 25 years,” Cool said. “His leadership speaks for itself. This partnership came at a perfect time, and it’s an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. The whole point is to serve others. Our challenge now is to grow and take everyone with us.”

Stake In The Game

MSP-OG offers majority-stake acquisitions that still leave founders with equity and operational input. The goal is to maintain founder influence while plugging into an ecosystem of support, including AI-powered operations, centralized infrastructure and a collaborative leadership model.

“We’re not just acquiring companies; we’re integrating knowledge, talent and specialized services,” Fernandez said. “As each MSP joins, we identify their strengths, whether it’s a specific vertical or a customer type, and share those across the group. It’s a happy family of opportunity.”

And there is little criteria MSPs must meet to be acquired.

“We’re not looking at EBITDA numbers or growth rates as the sole criteria,” he said. “We’ll absolutely acquire an MSP that isn’t growing because that’s what we’re here to do: help them grow. Success isn’t something we buy; it’s something we build, together.”

The company’s framework allows MSP owners to exit with intention, whether by stepping back, staying on or mentoring the next generation. MSPs will gain access to support for operations, finance and sales and marketing, to name a few, freeing up owners to focus on customer relationships and growth.

“There’s too much short-term thinking in our industry,” Fernandez said. “People cash out, culture disappears and what’s left is just a hollow shell. That’s not what we’re about. We’re building something for the long haul, not just shareholder value, but human value.”

He added that it’s about empowering leaders who want to empower others. MSPs can come into MSP-OG and “transform who they are.”

Lebron’s message to the MSP community is simple: MSP-OG is here to make a difference.

“The channel is evolving,” he said. “A year from now, I hope we’re not only seen as trailblazers but as a pillar for MSPs to look toward, proving that they’re not alone and that there’s a better way to build, grow and thrive.”
