MSP Owners Group Parent Firm Summit Holdings Taps New Executive Team: Exclusive

‘You’re going to see companies scale in a way that’s fast, simple and predictable. You’re going to see excellence in operations, service and product delivery,’ says Juan Fernandez, CEO of Owners Group and Summit Holdings.

MSP Owners Group parent company Summit Holdings has tapped a whole new suite of executives to focus on growth, purpose, impact and culture.

MSP-OG, which launched in June, acquires MSPs and was founded by channel veteran Juan Fernandez (pictured above), who is also CEO of Summit, the Dallas-based company that's positioning itself as a global collective “built by MSPs, for MSPs.”

It already made its first moves when it launched, acquiring Chicago-based ProdigyTeks and Houston’s Cool Technology Group. Paco Lebron, founder and CEO of ProdigyTeks, stepped into the CEO role at MSP-OG and leads the company’s strategy to bring independent MSPs together under a unified, values-aligned ecosystem.

For Summit, Michael Amiri came on as chief revenue officer, Ryan McGill has been tapped as chief experience officer, Carlos Martinez was named the new chief operation officer and Krista Foisy is now the program and product director.

“I’ve been in this channel for almost 16 years,” Amiri told CRN in an exclusive interview. “At some point, you stop asking what you can get from it and start asking what you can leave behind. When I met Juan, Carlos and Ryan years ago, I made a mental note. If I was ever going to build something that truly mattered, I wanted to do it with people like them. We’re not just buying companies, we’re transforming them. We’re helping them grow, yes, but also helping their people grow…revenue will follow. Our job is to create the conditions for it to happen the right way.”

For the last 15 years, Amiri was the senior director of dealer sales at Tampa, Fla.-based vendor ConnectWise, according to his LinkedIn profile.

For McGill, years of experience in product and operational leadership has taught him a simple lesson: good enough is no longer good enough.

“Too many companies settle for mediocre experiences whether that’s internal tools, client interactions or employee development,” he told CRN. “I just got tired of seeing that. At Summit, we’re fixing those pain points. We’re designing experiences whether that’s a tool we build or a new company we bring in that’ll feel seamless and human.”

A big part of that, he said, is education.

“We’re launching learning platforms to give people the tools they need to grow,” he added. “We’re helping employees find their next role within the company, not outside it.”

McGill spent the last almost two years as a U.S. sales engineer manager at Delaware-based vendor SuperOps.ai. Before that, he held numerous roles at vendors such as Evo Security, ConnectWise and Continuum.

Martinez, who spent the last 10 years as director of IT services and virtual CIO at Oklahoma-based ImageNet Consulting, will focus on operational scalability developing processes that don’t just work now but continue to work as more MSPs join the Summit ecosystem, he said.

“I’ve worked in VARs, startups, MSPs…I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t,” he told CRN. “This is a chance to build something the right way, from the inside out, with people I trust. We’re looking at every MSP we onboard, how they operate and support their clients, and using that data to design processes that scale without losing their uniqueness. We’re also big on mentorship. We’re not just hiring leaders, we’re growing them from within.”

Foisy will be central to that effort. The new product and program director founded and ran a consulting firm for the last 16 years and held numerous positions at vendors like Evo Security and Auvik Networks, according to her LinkedIn profile.

“There’s a lot happening, and my first job is to get my arms around it all,” she said. “I’m working closely with Carlos and Ryan to make sure that what we’re building makes sense for users, for teams and for the broader ecosystem.”

While she wouldn’t reveal the lineup of offerings, she confirmed that several tools are currently in development.

“We’re making sure automation is built in from the start,” she said. “Whatever we release can’t just look good, it has to work, scale and support real people doing real work. And we’re involving users from the beginning. Feedback loops are essential. We want to get it right the first time, but we’re not afraid to adjust.”

CEO Fernandez said this isn’t about creating another MSP platform: “It’s about building a new blueprint.”

“You’re going to see companies scale in a way that’s fast, simple and predictable. You’re going to see excellence in operations, service and product delivery,” he said. “Every company we work with has to pass a cultural test. If you’re just looking for a paycheck, this isn’t the place. But if you want to make a difference in your people’s lives, in your clients’ businesses, in the community, that’s who we’re looking for.”

By year’s end, he said there will be one or two more MSP acquisitions under MSP-OG’s belt.

“We’re not buying to grow. We’re growing to make an impact,” he said. “But only if it’s the right fit. Culture first, always.”
