Trustifi Names Former Mimecast, Dell Exec Jeff Spridgeon As CEO: Exclusive

‘I want Trustifi to become the obvious choice for MSPs. Our job is to deliver complete email security in a way that's easy to understand, easy to deploy and easy to manage. If we save our partners time, save them money and help them deliver better security to their customers, then we've done our job. Ultimately, I want partners to see Trustifi as the company that's easiest to work with, most responsive to their needs and consistently out in front of where email security is headed,’ says Jeff Spridgeon, Trustifi’s new CEO.

Trustifi has tapped channel veteran Jeff Spridgeon as its new CEO to lead the company's next phase of growth with a sharpened focus on AI-powered email security, MSPs and partner success.

Spridgeon’s appointment was disclosed Tuesday after he officially joined Trustifi this spring, bringing decades of experience building and scaling technology organizations, including leadership roles at Mimecast and Dell Technologies, with a focus on channel strategy, partnerships and cybersecurity. As CEO, he said Trustifi stood out for its ability to address one of cybersecurity’s biggest challenges without adding unnecessary complexity.

"For me, there were really two reasons this opportunity made sense," Spridgeon told CRN in an exclusive interview. "Professionally, becoming a CEO had always been a goal. But as I dug into Trustifi, I realized there was something genuinely special here. The company is solving an incredibly complicated problem in a very simple way for the people who actually have to use it, and that's remarkably difficult to accomplish in cybersecurity."

The New York-based vendor provides cloud-based inbound and outbound email security, encryption, compliance and security awareness training. Recently, it expanded its platform with an AI-powered security awareness training module that integrates directly into its email security platform.

For Spridgeon, the company's existing partner base was another factor that convinced him to take the helm.

"When I learned Trustifi already had thousands of customers, that told me the market had already validated what the company was doing," he said. "We have the technology, we have the customers, we have talented people and we have a strong history. Those ingredients give us a tremendous foundation to build on."

One Trustifi partner said Spridgeon made “a strong impression” when he met him recently.

“I was expecting him to do most of the talking, and he did discuss his background and where he saw opportunities for Trustifi in the future,” Rick Mancinelli, CEO of Delray Beach, Fla.-based C3 Complete, told CRN. “What struck me most about the meeting, however, was his desire to learn about our experiences with the channel team, support team and the product overall. He genuinely listened, took notes and asked probing follow-up questions. I left the meeting feeling energized by Jeff’s passion for all things Trustifi and look forward to being a part of their continued success.”

While Trustifi plans to continue advancing its AI capabilities, Spridgeon said his immediate focus is strengthening the company's execution and deepening relationships with partners.

"We're literally sitting down with our existing partners and asking very detailed questions about what's working, what isn't working and where we can make their businesses more successful,” the CEO said. “Those conversations are directly influencing the products we're building and the services we're putting in place."

AI will remain central to that strategy, but Spridgeon believes AI is only valuable when it simplifies security rather than making it more complicated.

"Our AI engine continuously learns from new threats," he said. "If one customer encounters a brand-new phishing campaign, the platform immediately learns from it and extends those protections across the rest of our customer base without anyone having to manually tune policies. Every threat makes the platform smarter."

Looking ahead, Spridgeon said his first year will focus on assembling a “world-class leadership team” while making Trustifi's value proposition even clearer for MSPs serving SMBs.

"I want Trustifi to become the obvious choice for MSPs," he said. "Our job is to deliver complete email security in a way that's easy to understand, easy to deploy and easy to manage. If we save our partners time, save them money and help them deliver better security to their customers, then we've done our job. Ultimately, I want partners to see Trustifi as the company that's easiest to work with, most responsive to their needs and consistently out in front of where email security is headed."
