With Mann Departure, Scale Computing Loses Strong Channel Champion
‘After a lot of reflection, I’m sharing that my journey at Scale Computing has come to an end,’ says Scott Mann, Scale Computing’s longtime channel chief and multiple-time CRN Channel Madness champion.
Scott Mann, a multiple-time Channel Madness champion and Scale Computing’s global channel chief, has left the company after over 11 years.
“From building channels and teams across regions, to navigating market shifts and scaling internationally, the experience has been nothing short of transformative,” said Mann, managing director and vice president of Scale Computing, in a post on LinkedIn.
“After a lot of reflection, I’m sharing that my journey at Scale Computing has come to an end,” he said.
Mann’s departure comes about six months after Scale Computing was acquired by Acumera for an undisclosed amount.
Mann won CRN’s prestigious Channel Madness Tournament of Chiefs in both 2022 and 2023, cementing his spot as the first-ever repeat winner in the contest’s history. He was also named as one of the 50 Most Influential Channel Chiefs of 2025.
Scott was critical to the development of Scale Computing’s channel strategy and go-to-market strategy over the past decade.
“Over the past decade-plus, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside an incredible company—one that evolved from a bold idea into a global player, and one that shaped me deeply as a leader,” Mann said on LinkedIn.
Mann did not disclose where his next job would be. “More to come soon,” he said.
Acumera Buys Scale Computing
In late July, fellow edge computing firm Acumera announced it acquired Indianapolis-based Scale Computing.
The deal was backed by private equity investor Oaktree Capital Management, which has $209 billion in assets under management.
Austin, Texas-based Acumera provides security and networking products that complement Scale’s virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure.
The new merged company is called Scale Computing, with Acumera’s Bill Morrow becoming CEO of the combined company.
Scale Computing founder and former CEO Jeff Ready left the company in October.
Scale Computing Founder And Former CEO Weighs In
Ready said he had the “privilege” of seeing Mann evolve and elevate Scale Computing over the years.
“I had the privilege of seeing you evolve personally and professionally into the leader you are today,” said Ready in a LinkedIn post. “I may have missed the last few months after my own departure, but I have no doubt your unending work ethic and genuine kindness kept pushing things forward.”
Ready said wherever Mann ends up, ‘They’ll be lucky to have you.”
Mann, for his part, said he was grateful for the people he worked with.
“The teammates, partners, customers, and leaders who challenged me, trusted me, and made the work meaningful. … Thank you to everyone who was part of the journey. I’ll always be rooting for your continued success,” he said.
Mann could not be reached for comment by press time.
