Accenture’s Most Highly Compensated Executives In 2022

2022 was a pivotal year for Accenture with revenue up 22 percent from 2021. Here are Accenture’s five most highly compensated executives.

Even with an economic downturn expected in 2023, IT spending is expected to continue to increase and accelerate, allowing solution providers like Accenture to offer more value-add to its customers.

“We believe that the current macro is making it even clearer to clients that they need to change more, not less. And that two of the five key forces of change that we have identified for the next decade—the need for total enterprise reinvention, enabled by tech, data and AI and the ability to access, create and unlock the potential of talent—are critical to succeed in the near-medium and long term,” said Accenture CEO Julie Sweet during the company’s Fiscal Year 2023 first-quarter earnings call last week.

In its first quarter, the Dublin, Ireland-based company—No. 1 on CRN’s Solution Provider 500 list for 2022— delivered bookings of $16.2 billion, with 24 customers with quarterly new bookings over $100 million.

Accenture’s fiscal year runs from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31.

In Fiscal Year 2022, Accenture generated $61.6 billion in revenue, which was a record increase of 22 percent in U.S. dollars. Operating cash flow for Fiscal Year 2022 was $9.5 billion and free cash flow was a record $8.8 billion. New bookings were a record $71.7 billion.

The company currently has 738,000 employees and serves 9,000 clients in 120 countries.

Accenture also acquired a total of 23 companies this past calendar year.

The most highly compensated executive, CEO Sweet, recorded more than $33 million in total compensation, mostly in the form of stock awards, according to a proxy filing on Dec. 13, 2022. Other executives who made the list include CFO KC McClure and CEO of North America James Etheredge.

5. Jean-Marc Ollagnier

CEO, Europe

Total Fiscal Year 2022 Compensation: $11,011,145

Total Fiscal Year 2021 Compensation: $7,158,592

Ollagnier has been CEO, Europe since March 2020 and is also a member of Accenture’s Global Management Committee. Prior to the CEO role, Ollagnier was group chief executive of Accenture’s resources group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and Latin America from 2006 to 2011. He was also country managing director of Accenture in France and the Benelux countries.

For Fiscal Year 2022, Ollagnier’s salary was $11,011,145, with a bonus of $350,000. His non-equity incentive plan compensation was $2,116,989. Other compensation of $19,481 and stock awards totaling $7,466,180 brought Ollagnier’s total compensation to $11,011,145. Ollagnier is based in Europe and is compensated in euros. His fiscal 2022 compensation was converted to U.S. dollars at an exchange rate of 0.90221, which was the average of the monthly translation rates for fiscal 2022.

4. KC McClure

CFO

Total Fiscal Year 2022 Compensation: $11,026,597

Total Fiscal Year 2021 Compensation: $6,938,185

KC McClure was appointed CFO in January 2019 after serving as senior managing director­ of business and commercial finance. Throughout her 30-year career at Accenture, McClure has held numerous finance leadership roles and was head of investor relations from 2010 to 2016.

For Fiscal Year 2022, McClure’s salary was $11,026,597. Her non-equity incentive plan compensation was $2,062,688. Other compensation of $7,842 and stock awards totaling $7,887,317 brought McClure’s total compensation to $11,026,597.

3. Gianfranco Casati

Executive Chairman, Growth Markets

Total Fisccal Year 2022 Compensation: $11,067,701

Total Fiscal Year 2021 Compensation: $7,184,440

Casati served as CEO of growth markets during the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2022. He stepped down from the position on Sept. 1, 2022, and currently serves as executive chairman of growth markets. He joined Accenture in 1984 and became a partner in 1994. He previously served as the group chief executive of Accenture‘s products group, which serves customers in the air, freight and travel services industries, among others. He also served as managing director of Accenture’s products group in Europe, was the country managing director for Italy and chairman of Accenture’s geographic council in its Italy, Greece and emerging markets region.

Casati is based in Singapore and is compensated in Singapore dollars. His fiscal 2022 compensation was converted to U.S. dollars at an exchange rate of 1.36296, which was the average of the monthly translation rates for fiscal 2022.

For Fiscal Year 2022, Casati’s salary was $11,067,701. His non-equity incentive plan compensation was $2,283,0633. Other compensation of $176,072 and stock awards totaling $7,466,180 brought Casati’s total compensation to $11,067,701. Casati is based in Singapore and is compensated in Singapore dollars. His Fiscal Year 2022 compensation was converted to U.S. dollars at an exchange rate of 1.36296, which was the average of the monthly translation rates for fiscal 2022.

2. James Etheredge

CEO, North America

Total Fiscal Year 2022 Compensation: $11,194,389

Etheredge is the CEO of Accenture North America, which is the company’s largest geographic market generating $29 billion in revenue in Fiscal Year 2022. He leads about 80,000 people to deliver technology for Accenture’s employess, customers and communities. He joined Accenture in 1985 and became a partner in 1997 and executive partner in 2011. His tenure included leading the teams responsible for many of the company’s largest customers and overseeing practices in both North America and Europe.

For Fiscal Year 2022, Etheredge’s salary was $11,194,389. His non-equity incentive plan compensation was $2,137,500. Other compensation of $100,822 and stock awards totaling $ $7,887,317 brought Etheredge’s total compensation to $11,194,389.

1. Julie Sweet

CEO

Total Fiscal Year 2022 Compensation: $33,701,108

Total Fiscal Year 2021 Compensation: $23,085,391

Sweet has been Accenture’s CEO and member of the board of directors since September 2019. In September 2021, she became the chair of the board. Sweet served as CEO of Accenture’s business in North America from June 2015 to September 2019. Prior to that, she served as Accenture’s general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer from March 2010 to June 2015. Prior to joining Accenture in 2010, Sweet was a partner in the law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP for 10 years.

For Fiscal Year 2022, Sweet’s salary was $33,701,108. Her non-equity incentive plan compensation was $5,900,000. Other compensation of $835,595 and stock awards totaling $25,490,513 brought Sweet’s total compensation to $33,701,108.
