ZipLip Launches ComplianceAppliance

The ComplianceAppliance is designed to allow smaller firms to comply with SEC, NYSE, and NASD regulations for e-mail retention at a fraction of the cost of a typical enterprise solution. "Regulations affect firms of all sizes, and we're trying very hard here not to neglect smaller said ZipLip CEO Kon Leong, adding, "E-mail retention has been challenging for broker dealers, registered investment advisors, and asset managers in particular because so many have fewer than 30 e-mail users."

In its announcement ZipLip noted that industry estimates are that less than 50% of small financial firms are compliant due to the high prices and complexity of e-mail compliance solutions on the market, and that many broker dealers and registered investment advisors fall into this less-than-30-employees size bracket. The ComplianceAppliance addresses the need for these firms to not only archive messages, but also be able to search, index, and randomly sample and review mail.

ZipLip's goals for the ComplianceAppliance include cost-effective control of e-mail archives, 100% e-mail-capture from Exchange, Lotus, and other e-mail servers, high-function search and retrieval, and the ability to easily supply search results to regulators and others who may request the data. "This is essentially the same platform our enterprise users have," said Leong.

Pricing for the ComplianceAppliance starts at $14,500 for units servicing 30 or fewer e-mailboxes. ZipLip offers discounts to National Regulatory Services (NRS) and other member firms.
