Microsoft Plans 10 Patches Next Tuesday
As is its custom, Microsoft gave advance notice of the number, highest severity, and target of the patches it plans to post Tuesday, June 14. Of the ten bulletins, seven affect Windows, and one each impacts Microsoft Services for UNIX, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server and the associated Small Business Server.
Although Microsoft does not go into detail in its monthly Security Bulletin Advance Notification -- which is posted to the Web and also sent via e-mail alerts -- it did say that at least one of the seven involving Microsoft Windows would be tagged with the highest-possible severity rating. The UNIX, Exchange, and ISA Server vulnerabilities will be ranked "Moderate," Important," and "Moderate," respectively.
No non-security high-priority updates to Windows are planned, but as usual, Microsoft will release a revised virus and worm removal tool June 14.
The advance warning procedure, which Microsoft says is "intended to help our customers plan for the deployment of these security updates more effectively," began in November 2004.
