HP Postpones New Orleans Technology Forum

HP was optimistic about New Orleans hosting the conference Sept. 12 to 15. But the hurricane's aftermath and extended devastation to the Gulf Coast city forced the cancellation. The company will announce new dates and location for the conference on Sept. 9.

"We are extending the HP Technology Forum cancellation policy indefinitely. When new conference details are available, you will have ample time to assess your schedule and make a decision on your attendance, without penalty," HP said in a statement.

HP is automatically canceling hotel reservations made through the conference Web site and is working with airlines to transfer nonrefundable airline tickets. Travel updates will be available Sept. 2.

Today, parts of New Orleans were under as much as 20 feet of water, as levies gave way to the hurricane storm surge. Officials estimate it could be months before the city is habitable again.
