Strategic Computer Solutions Acquires IBM Partner
Strategic Computer Solutions (SCS) has acquired Principle Software, a fellow IBM Premier Partner of Waltham, Mass., further strengthening its IBM-centric business.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Principle Software, which specializes in e-business and portal solutions, will become part of SCS' related company, Strategic Computer Services. Principle Software's IBM Business Partner Innovation Center will become part of SCS. The solution provider says the addition of Principle Software will add expertise in IBM software brands, such as Lotus and WebSphere, as well as help expand SCS' geographic coverage in the Northeast, specifically the New England region. Jim Carrick, CEO of SCS, says the solution provider's IBM software business has grown rapidly in recent years, and he expects the trend to continue with the acquisition of Principle Software.
SCS, which recently received accreditation as an IBM On Demand Business Partner, also made two other strategic moves. First, the solution provider created a new security and networking solutions practice that will focus on major vendors, such as IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, RSA Security, Qualys and F5 Networks. The new practice will offer consulting services and solutions for enterprise security audits, IP telephony, federal compliance and other areas.
In addition, SCS expanded its government practice. The solution provider has announced the appointment of David Swits, former COO of the New York State Office of Technology (OFT), as its vice president of its state and local government practice. Swits served as COO for the New York State OFT, an agency dedicated to expanding IT in government services, since January 2002, and was responsible for OFT's operations as well as management of the NYS Enterprise Help Desk
