D&H Distributing has launched an online training program that gives manufacturers access to solution providers via the distributor's Web site.

The new program, called V-Train, enables manufacturers to assist solution providers in the recommendation, sale and installation of solutions through recorded presentations stored in a library on D&H's Web site.

The service has been in operation for about three weeks and already contains seven presentations from manufacturers, such as Dazzle, KDS and Palm. The V-Train site has received about 1,500 hits since it was launched.

"It's a real good way for manufacturers to communicate out to the customers," said Jeff Davis, vice president of sales at D&H. The distributor has made a significant effort to beef-up content and services on its Web site. "The Web is really a competitive advantage for us," he added.

Each V-Train presentation is about four minutes long, and the content is aimed at SMB solution providers who may not have the resources and time to attend extensive trainings, Davis said. "This is a great tool for [solution providers to come in and see at their leisure," he said.

V-Train content will focus on new technologies, such as wireless, and offer additional product information and pictures. The distributor will continue to add more presentations on a weekly or daily basis, as they become available, Davis said.

The presentations are available via Windows Media Player in both a broadband connection and as a download that can viewed by the solution provider and its employees at a later time, the distributor said.
