SilverStream Offers eXtend Platform For RosettaNet Basics

SilverStream Software

SilverStream eXtend QuickStart for RosettaNet is available immediately at $50,000 per CPU, which is in the target range for pricing of RosettaNet Basics products, said Fred Hollahan, vice president and general manager of e-business integration products for SilverStream.

RosettaNet Basics, launched in April 2001, offers vendor software in conjunction with the RosettaNet consortium to help solution providers connect SMBs to trading partners using RosettaNet-developed XML standards.

EXtend QuickStart for RosettaNet is a combination of the SilverStream J2EE-based application server, the eXtend Composer set of XML integration tools and a framework of RosettaNet standards, including partner interface processes (PIPs) for identifying trading partners, said Hollahan.

Hollahan said SilverStream's product enables solution providers to set up trading networks for an unlimited amount of trading partners. EXtend QuickStart for RosettaNet also includes EDI connection capability so companies already using EDI for supply chain management simultaneously can use both EDI and XML-based RosettaNet standards, he said.

Currently, only large companies have been able to take advantage of standardizing trading-partner exchanges and supply chain management on XML interfaces, said Hollahan. The RosettaNet Basics program hopes to lower the barrier to entry for smaller companies, he said.
