It is the first time the financial software suite has been available through the two-tier channel, according to the companies.

"By teaming with Ingram Micro and selling Small Business Manager 6.2 through the IT channel, Microsoft can better serve customers in the SMB marketplace," said Dave Waldrop, channel sales manager for the Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions Division. "With the strength of Ingram Micro's business resources, supply chain efficiencies and VAR communities, we can meet our aggressive sales goals while streamlining operations and minimizing costs."

Microsoft Great Plains Small Business Manager 6.2 includes financial, banking, payroll, sales and purchasing capabilities.

Ingram Micro plans to offer Microsoft Great Plains-focused training, technical support, lead-generation programs and financing options to solution providers, the distributor said. Ingram Micro said it also will deliver flexible financing and product fulfillment options to Microsoft Consulting partners.
