IBM Reveals Details Of New Services Unit

Some 30,000 PwC Consulting employees, in addition to 30,000 IBM staffers--many from the former Business Innovation Services unit within IGS--make up the core of a new unit called Business Consulting Services (BCS).

In a cash-and-stock transaction initiated in July and completed today after the approval of shareholders and the necessary regulatory bodies, IBM paid about $3.5 billion for PwC Consulting.

Ginni Rometty is the general manager of IBM BCS, reporting to Doug Elix, senior vice president and group executive of IGS.

Within BCS, Mike Collins has been tapped as general manager of the Americas business; David Dockray has been named general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Hideki Kurashige has been named general manager for BCS' Asia-Pacific market.
